Minister Renewals – December 31 Deadline has passed!
The General Council counts all renewals postmarked after December 31 as late and a $25 late fee must be attached before the renewal can be processed; renewals postmarked after January 15, 2008, are lapsed and require both a reinstatement application, criminal background check and a $75 filing fee for processing. The names of all ministers who have not renewed by the lapse date are presented to the Board of Presbyters for action.
It is essential that each minister return the signed Verification Form to the District office along with the renewal form. The District must endorse all renewal forms before the General Council can process them; the Board of Presbyters does not authorize the District to process a renewal if the minister has not submitted a Support Verification Form.
The Potomac District Bylaws require that:
“Each minister shall contribute not less than 75% of his tithes into the District Operational Fund each month…The fulfillment of the agreement to contribute to District support as stipulated herein shall be considered as being an essential requirement for the renewal of ministerial credentials each year. The renewal application shall be validated by a statement indicating the total amount contributed for the year and stating that this amount equals the required percentage of the tithe.” Article VII, Section 2., (a)
Please make every effort to send these two forms together to:
Potomac District Council ATTN: RENEWALS PO Box 690 Gainesville, VA 20156
Do not send renewal forms directly to General Council – this will delay processing of your renewal considerably as the forms must be forwarded to our office for endorsement. Tithes to the District should be made payable to “Potomac District Council”. If you wish to submit General Council dues along with your renewal, please write a separate check to “General Council”. In addition, spouses should send separate checks for General Council dues. (Please remember that a credentialed minister’s spouse who holds credentials is exempt from the District tithe requirement.) You may also pay General Council dues online.
By action of the 2006 General Presbytery two new questions were added to the credential renewal:
9. Do you support in personal prayer and finance Assemblies of God World Missions and Assemblies of God U.S. Missions missionaries and ministries?
10. If you are a pastor or in leadership over others (such as a youth group), do you provide regular opportunity for those you lead to participate in prayer and financial support for Assemblies of God World Missions and Assemblies of God U.S. Missions missionaries and ministries?
This came as a result of Resolution 4 adopted by the 2005 General Council calling for a committee to study and make recommendations to the General Presbytery. View the text of the resolution here. The General Presbytery encourages all Assemblies of God ministers to actively support the cause of missions.
