Potomac District Prayer Center
The Prayer Center is committed to interceding before God so that the people and churches of the Potomac District Council might fulfill the threefold mission of man to be: (1) an agency of God for evangelizing the world, (2) a corporate body in which man may worship God, and (3) a channel of God's purpose to build a body of saints being perfected in the image of His son Jesus Christ. To this end we embrace the distinctive Pentecostal message whereby Christians are given the power to live a joyous and victorious life. This includes experiences of: intimacy with Jesus, worship, intercession, healing, and prophecy. In the spirit of Joel 2 and Matthew 9, it is our desire to eventually have continuous prayer covering 365 days a year.
The Prayer Center began on January 1, 2005 and is still in the formulation phase with meetings conducted several days of the week at various times to meet everybody's schedule. Call for current information on meetings. The Word declares that we are not to despise small beginnings. We are not where we are going to be, but we have started. It is the goal of the Prayer Center, that worship and prayer will eventually take place 24 hours a day, seven days a week at the Prayer Center.
John the Baptist described himself as a "Friend of the Bridegroom" (John 3:29) His identity and joy was found in being a voice that prepared his generation for the first coming of Jesus Christ. Across the world today, the Holy Spirit is drawing hearts into a worship and prayer movement that will result in a host of individuals who, like John, will function as "Friends of the Bridegroom," going forth to fulfill the Great Commission and prepare the way for the Second Coming of Jesus. It is also the goal of the Prayer Center that regular training and sessions/conferences take place to prepare our people for the unique dynamics of the end times.
The Prayer Center will be specifically designed for Christians, missionaries, pastors and ministers who desire to set aside a short period of time to pursue the Lord in intense focus in intimacy, development of spiritual ministry skills, and gain a perspective of missions at the end of the age. We propose teachings on themes such as intimacy with God, the Bride of Christ, and the Spirit-filled life. We propose to present Biblical studies in worship, intercession, spiritual warfare, healing, deliverance, revival and end-time prophecy.
It is the goal that the Prayer Ministry be staffed by "Prayer Missionaries." These are individuals who have given their lives to wholehearted passion for Jesus Christ expressed in extravagant devotion. They will have each raised their own support and will come to the Prayer Center to spend whatever time the HolySpirit has impressed upon them to spend in intercessory prayer. With submissive hearts that are rooted and grounded in love, these missionaries will ask the Lord to move upon hearts, change the atmosphere of our cities, and turn the nations of the earth to the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that the Lord will gather intercessors to keep the fire on the prayer altar burning.
At the center of all we do at the Prayer Center is to maintain a "Portal of Prayer" for the people and churches of the Potomac District. The Prayer Center is committed to prayer, fasting, and the Great Commission. 24/7 worship and prayer changes the spiritual atmosphere of an area, thus opening the heavens for more anointed evangelism and unity in the Body of Christ. This also allows for encountering God in a personal way that transforms us by intimacy with Jesus. We believe along with others that the Holy Spirit is orchestrating a global prayer strategy far eclipsing any other prayer movement in history resulting in an unprecedented harvest of souls in the nations
The Holy Spirit is orchestrating a global prayer movement to bring the Bride of Christ into unity and maturity, to release a global harvest at the end of the age. The Potomac Park Camp Prayer Center is only one expression of this prayer movement across the earth today. Ministries are arising all over the earth that literally offer supplication night and day before the Lord and function as catalysts for the entire Church to become a House of Prayer (Isaiah 56:7), causing the work of the harvest go forth with power and effectiveness. In cities throughout the earth, we believe it will become common to hear of worship and prayer ministries that continue non-stop 24 hours a day in the spirit of the tabernacle of David.
