Potomac District’s Lay Leader of the Year Pam Conley has also been selected as the 2009 National Sunday School Teacher of the Year! Conley was honored in a special service in her home church in January when Wes Bartel, director of the national Sunday school department, surprised her in a Sunday morning service with the news that she had been selected as the national honoree. As the national honoree, Pam and her husband Derrick, will receive an all-expenses-paid Caribbean cruise, and her church, Shenandoah Assembly of God, Shenandoah VA, will receive $1,000 worth of curriculum from Radiant Life. As the district winner, Conley was the recipient of a week-long stay at the Massanutten Resort in Massanutten VA. She was also given special recognition by the district’s Christian education department at the District Equipping Conference at Christ Chapel, Woodbridge VA on November 8, 2008.

Pam is a Sunday school teacher and children’s ministry director at Shenandoah Assembly of God in Shenandoah, VA, pastored by the Rev. Carter Dean. When she volunteered to start a children’s church program at the church, she and her husband had four children in their class. The ministry has now grown to over 40 children and the church has had to multiply their classes due to the increased number of children attending.    read more
