How to be an Effective Youth Pastor when it’s not your Full-time Job
Presenter: Dallas Cogle

So you have a full-time job that brings home the bacon. But that job is not the one you do each week that requires you to be relevant, current, fun, humorous and charismatic while working with those warm and fuzzy creatures known as youth. So how do you incorporate being a youth pastor/leader into a busy schedule that includes a full-time job? Is it possible?? Here’s the inside scoop to this workshop you don’t want to miss as a non-full-time youth pastor/leader: YES, it’s very possible to effectively lead your youth group while having an outside full-time job. I’ve been doing it for over 11 years in my local church.

In this workshop, we’ll explore the tricks of the bi-vocational trade of being a youth pastor/leader while also having that full-time job. (Too bad your bi-vocational status probably doesn’t equate to two paychecks, right?!) There are elements you must have in place to be an effective youth pastor/leader if it’s not your full-time position. There are also strategies that involve partnering up with local businesses – like Chick-fil-A, Wal-Mart and Starbucks – that can help you out with freebies that every youth likes to win when you don’t have the time to fundraise to buy prizes and rewards. We’ll also explore how you can maximize the role of social media and certain Web sites to keep your youth peaking with anticipation and excitement for your group. I will present curriculum that is current yet provides flexibility for your own creativity in preparing your messages, and we’ll talk about the most time-efficient ways to come up with practical, dynamic message ideas that will speak to the heart of your youth.

There are limitations when you’re not a full-time youth pastor, but there are so many resources, shortcuts, connections and the Lord’s power that can enable you to overcome such limitations to be effective as your church’s youth pastor/leader when you have an outside full-time job. This is a must-take workshop if you find yourself in such a position.

Secrets of High Performance Teams

Ministry is much more exciting on a high performance team, but you do have to pay more-and not just in salaries, but also in time and energy.  The Law of the Lid is never more true than when you lead a high performance team.  There are three truths we will cover in dealing with high performance teams: They enhance the ministry experience, usually cost significantly more than standard teams, and they require more maintenance and care.  A high performance team takes greater effort and produces a greater return - you can have and lead a high performance team. In this session we will cover how.
